About Me Originally from London, I came up to Lancaster University, and after graduation and marriage, began my career in the NHS. I'm still here after more re-organisations than I can remember and am sure there will be more to come! I have brought up one daughter, (who ironically now works in London!) and sadly lost my first husband after spending several years as his main carer. I have been fortunate though to marry for a second time and we spend a great deal of our time enjoying the wonderful walks and scenery that surround us in this beautiful part of the country.
Some years ago as part of my own development at work, I joined a mentoring scheme as a mentee. The discussions were very helpful and I soon found myself wanting to be the mentor instead; to have the opportunity to help others by giving them time to talk through plans and problems. I undertook a year's training and was fascinated to see how much people could benefit from something as simple as having time and space to express their thoughts and discuss them with someone else. A common phrase is "why didn't I think of that before?" Simply, they hadn't been given the right conditions. I have been privileged to see people stop mid-sentence when they realise that they knew the answer to their problem already, and just needed the right environment to allow it to emerge.
My role is to provide you with this environment; to listen and then ask you about the things you have said; to facilitate a conversation that will help you distil your thoughts and find your answers.
In a session, the best thing that anyone can ever say to me is, "now that is a really good question!".
